The Board of Directors and Coaches of the MA Vikings consider safety the most important element we can provide to the players.
The Vikings and Pop Warner strongly emphasize participant safety in a number of ways. Pop Warner rules and setup offer increased safety:
- All players are assigned to teams based on an age/weight schematic. This keeps significantly larger or older players off the same field.
- Every participant requires a current year physical examination and doctor’s approval before they will be allowed to step onto the playing field. Note: save yourself a hassle and have your child's physical completed before summer.
- All games must have a licensed physician or EMT on the field before every game begins.
- At the beginning of every practice and game the participant will go through a through exercise routine to stretch and warm up.
- Before any player can participate in any physical contact drills they will have gone through ten hours of intensive physical conditioning.
- Before the player takes the field in a game, he/she will have over twenty hours of vigorous training and conditioning.
- All games will be officiated by registered college or high school football officials.
As a result of our and the league's safety measures, injuries in Pop Warner are lower than most other organized youth sports.
If you have any questions on safety or any other football related issues, please contact the MA Viking Board of Directors or the coaching staff.
